Wilmington mall shooting today, Shooter reported at Wilmington’s Independence Mall

Wilmington police responded to the scene of a shooting at the Independence Mall around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

A spokesman for the Wilmington Police Department said there were no reports of injuries or injuries from the shooting. Police are still looking for the suspect.

Units are stationed at the site and securing the mall.

WECT crews are on their way to the scene of the crime.

First responders flooded the area after a shooting broke out outside Independence Square on Saturday afternoon, sparking riots.

Police were called to the mall at around 2.15pm. After receiving reports of a shooting near the food court entrance, Lt. Greg Willett of the Wilmington Police Department. Willett said no one was injured.

He also said he did not know the cause of the shooting or how many shots were fired. He has been unable to provide any information about the suspect since 3pm on Saturday.

Several teams from the Wilmington Police Department and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene. Malls were also evacuated.

It was unclear where in the mall the shooting occurred, but Willett said there were no injuries.
